Once a week they take him out and have him fight the giant shark.

Day Without Bungee Jumping

We all came out to the lake with plans to go bungee jumping. Sadly it was too windy and thus, bungee jumping was closed.


Luckily we were still prepared for a fine picnic.

Here are Megan and Leo playing badminton (did you know that's how it was spelled? I didn't). It appears that Leo is on his cell phone.

We took a walk through the park and found some hula-hoops.

James got VERY interested in the sport when Sinead gave it a whirl.

Man Date

I went out on a man date with James.

This is a chicken dish that I don't remember the name of. I like that it came with a splatter guard.

After dinner James and I went out for an ice cream sundae.

Ping Pong Room

In Korea close friends are made very quickly. Case in point; this is Sun Ki, whom we met yesterday at the singing room. Sun Ki is already our very good friend and has invited us to stay at his house near the beach.

For some reason Leo decided that this would be a perfect spot to pose for a picture. Maybe he can use the picture for the cover of his new album of love ballads.

Sun Ki took us to this ping pong room. According to Sun Ki, in the Korean military one plays table tennis everyday and as all Korean males are required to do 2 years of military service it would follow that most Korean men can hold their own at the ping pong table.

Unless you haven't done your military service yet (i.e. James and Leo).

Singing Room

 This is Megan and our new co-teacher Sinead in Seoul Square.

We made some new friends at restaurant. Our new friends suggested that we go to a singing room. As the name would suggest, a singing room is a room where you go to sing. This is our new friend Sun Ki, he is very nice and loves to sing.

 Actually, I guess we all love to sing.

 Here is James doing a rousing rendition of "Under The Sea".

Mixed Bag

 We spent about an hour wandering through back allies searching for this gallery.

 Many restaurants have large tanks out front so that you can pick the fish you want to eat. This is the only one we have seen with a giant shark though.

 I will let you try and figure this one out yourself.

Dumpling Steam

Yellow Dust

Every spring Korea is overwhelmed by something called Yellow Dust. According to the locals Yellow Dust originates in China and is very bad for your health. In order to protect myself from said dust, I purchased this mask. While I do believe that the mask helped keep the pollutants out of my delicate respiratory system, I couldn't walk half a block without it fogging up my glasses.

Business Trip

Our work sent us to Guam for three days to take care of some official government business.

As you can see we were very upset about this.

I assure you that while I posed for this picture I was actually thinking about teaching Koreans grammar.

 This is deep fried parrot fish with rice and butter. The people of Guam really like deep fried food.

Free Gifts

In Korea it's very popular for stores to give you a little something extra with your purchase, they call it a "service". With our purchase of this regular milk they included 2 containers of banana milk. I knew we wouldn't drink the banana milk, but it's so hard to pass up free stuff.

Speaking of gifts, one of the parents brought us cupcakes. Here is Matt getting ready to enjoy said cupcake.

This is a man who is ready for Saint Patrick's Day. Who knew being Irish for a day was so popular in Korea.

Sally ordered the most disgusting drink ever invented (actually James wanted to order it but we managed to talk him out of it). They call it the Blue Monkey some of its ingredients include: blue liquor, banana liquor and milk...

We Are Adult

 This is another friend, Sally. She likes to remind us that she is not a child, she is adult!

 On this day the gang wanted to go to a bar at 4:00 in the afternoon. So that is where we are headed.

The purpose of the early expedition to the bar involved a girl that Tall James wanted see. You will soon realize that all of Tall James' ideas involve his desire to date western women.

 We are adult.

Wow! Who is this oh-so-handsome-guy? Is he an international card shark? British playboy? Top mathematics graduate turned Christian school teacher? Yep. This is our new teacher Matt.

 His skill at bar games tipped us off about his prior life in the mother country.

 Still adult. . .

 Sort of.

Western Invasion

I went out walking today and came across this fine establishment.

Fun and Game(room)s

 Recently we introduced you to our new friend James. Today we met up with him and his friend James. To keep them straight they go by Handsome James(left) and Cool James.

 They took us to a game room. In a game room you pay an hourly rate and can play as many games as you like. When you choose a new game an employee comes to your table and teaches you the rules (in Korean). This is a game where you force a pirate out of a barrel with little knives.

 This is game called Blokus, it was pretty fun (I wont go into how to play the game, as an explanation would take more than a few sentences ). Another exciting aspect of the game room is that when you loose, you get dared to embarrass yourself in front of other game room patrons. One man from another table came over to ours and sang "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid!

 I thought that Furries were NOT allowed to remove their heads in public!

 Holly cow! Are those mariachi owls?!

We took James and James to our favorite bar, Korean Traditional Pops. Here they are drinking cocktails involving fruit juice and milk.

 Here we are making friends in foreign lands.

Another day well spent.
